Abstract

1473679 Stopping articles on conveyer belts SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 6 June 1974 [8 June 1973] 25132/74 Heading B8A Liquefied gas bottles b are fed by a continuously driven belt conveyer C to a filling caroussel M, but to limit the extent of the line F of bottles immediately upstream of the caroussel, means are provided for lifting bottles in a zone S 1 clear of belt 12. In Fig. 2 on either side of the belt are hoses 20 which may be inflated to raise longitudinal members 22 of inverted U-shape. When the hoses uninflated (right hand in figure) the bottles rest on the belt 12 and are conveyed. To halt the bottles, they are raised by inflating the hoses (left hand). The belt guided in a channel 11 slides on a member 13. Compressed air from a line 30 is fed and controlled by a timing device 45 and by levers 42a, 43a actuated by the presence or absence of a bottle. Actuation of lever 43a by the first bottle causes the device 45 to be pressurized such that after a predetermined time the hoses 20 are inflated and bottles in the zone S 1 are halted. When the last bottle of the line F has released the lever 43a the hoses are deflated and the halted bottles advance so that lever 43a is again operated to initiate a further sequence. There may be a single central bottle lifting means and two laterally disposed conveying members.
