Abstract
1473455 Glass wall structures T KURATA 4 June 1975 24203/75 Headings E1B and E1W A partition wall, or wall facing comprises a rectangular frame enclosing an arrangement of interfitting glass blocks. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the blocks 2 have tongue and groove engagement both vertically and horizontally, and bracing rods 20 are employed between some columns of blocks. In the embodiment of Figs. 7-11 (not shown) blocks are laid horizontally in staggered courses, the frame sill member being shaped to engage grooves in the lowest course. In the embodiment of Figs. 12-14 (not shown), the blocks have wing- like protuberances for decoration effect, and in Figs. 15-17 (not shown) they are hollow and bottle-like. In the embodiment of Figs. 18 and 19, chevron-shaped blocks 2c are employed, with bracing rods 20 between each column. Other shaped blocks are illustrated in Figs. 20, 22 (not shown) and Fig. 29. A synthetic resinous filler may be employed, as at 19, around the panel periphery, and an epoxy resin adhesive may be employed between the blocks. Lighting may be arranged behind or in the blocks.
