1473328 Stabilizers DAVID MACKRILL ENG Ltd 19 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974 26 Feb 1975] 41829/74 and 8078/75 Heading B7J Stabilizing means, for a vehicle having a container loading device, comprises an extension member 13 rigidly attachable to each side of the vehicle so as to extend beyond the end of the vehicle rear wheel 10 over which a container is to be lifted; a movable arm 51 having at one end a ground engaging member (wheel) 53 and pivotally connected at its other end at 56 to a cranked link 50 pivoted at 55 to the member 13; a ram 52 pivoted at 57 to the member 13 and at 58 intermediate the ends of the link 50; and a ram 54 pivoted at 61 to the member 13 and at 60 intermediate the ends of the arm 51, wherein extension of both rams causes the arm 51 to move rearwardly and downwardly and the wheel 53 to engage the ground, as shown in dotdash lines, so that the wheel 53 is at a substantially greater distance in the horizontal direction from the member 13 than the distance the wheel 53 is from the extension member 13 in the horizontal direction when the wheel 53 is in the inoperative position, shown in full lines. By extending the ram 54 alone, the arm 51 and wheel 53 are moved to the dotted line positions in which the wheel 53 is substantially the same distance, in a horizontal direction, from the extension member 13 as when it is in the inoperative position.
