Abstract

1440649 Shovelling machines MITSUI SHIP BUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 5 Oct 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 46611/73 Heading E1F A shovelling unit for mounting on a frame, e.g. a vehicle chassis, comprises a link mechanism mountable on the frame, a bucket pivoted at its base to the outer end of the mechanism, stop means adjacent the upper portion of the link mechanism for regulating backward tilting of the bucket, a ram pivotally connected between the link mechanism and the frame, and flexible means arranged to interconnect the upper portion of the bucket and the frame. The unit is so contrived that on the bucket being moved to an upper, predetermined position by operation of the ram, the bucket automatically tilts due to the weight of the bucket either rearwards to a dump position or forwards to a loading position. The flexible means is under tension when the bucket is being raised to said upper position and is relieved from tension and flexes as the bucket on reaching said positions tilts to the dump position. Preferably the link mechanism comprises links 13, 20, 21 although links 20, 21 may be omitted and the ram 22 is caused to act directly 'between links 13 and the frame F. The flexible means may comprise either links 15, 16 with link 16 co-operating with a stop 23 on the chassis or a chain or a wire.
