1473269 Agglomerating carbonaceous fines SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 15 Dec 1975 [16 Dec 1974] 51248/75 Heading C5G [Also in Division Cl] Fines in slurry or powder form are agglomerated by adding to the fines 5-15 wt. per cent, based on anhydrous fines, of an aqueous bitumen emulsion, the bitumen having a penetration at 25‹ C. below 5 and a Conradron value over 35. As emulsifier for the emulsion is preferably used alkali metal naphthenate, but there may also be used an alkali metal soap of a higher fatty acid. The fines may in particular be coal fines but may also be coke fines, iron fines, e.g. sponge iron fines from steel works and ores, e.g. iron ores.
