Abstract
1473162 Automatic current control BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 18 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 31885/74 Heading G3R A control amplifier with a feedback capacitor has desired and actual value current inputs and an additional input connectable by switches to either a positive or a negative voltage source. The arrangement reduces response time when the desired input value changes. As shown, a control circuit for supplying the armature current in a D.C. motor fed from a converter includes an amplifier 2 receiving an actual current value input 8 and a desired current value input 7. A control device 12 normally holds switches 13, 14 open so that voltage sources 9, 10 are not connected to the amplifier. If the motor current is to be rapidly reduced, e.g. for reversing, switch 13 is closed so that positive source 9 is connected to the amplifier 2 to simulate a high actual current value and thus reduce the energization. To increase the current again, switch 13 is opened, and the return to a desired value is made more rapid by closing switch 14, thus connecting a source 10, of opposite polarity to the actual value current 7, to the amplifier input for a short time. In modifications, the amplifier feedback path may include a resistor (117), adding a proportional component to the integral characteristic produced by capacitor 3, Fig. 2 (not shown). The resistor (117) is shorted out when the switch 13 is closed so as to improve the response time. A diode circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown), or a reed relay, or a switching transistor such as a FET may be used to short out the resistor (117).
