Abstract

147,292. Harris, C. W. April 17, 1919. Screwing-dies and die-heads.-A rotary die-head of the type described in Specification 113,003 having the die-holders pivoted to die-carrier and capable of being swung into position for right and left hand threads, has the dies so mounted that for small diameters of work they are held out of the lines between the work and the cutter pivots. The dies are clamped in holders i of substantially triangular plates h by wedge clamp plates i, and are adjusted therein by screws. The plates are pivoted on studs b<7>, holes h<3>, h<4> one for each hand of cutting being provided in the plates for this purpose, and situated one on each side of the axis of the cutter; studs j are secured to other holes h<2> or h<5> in the plates, and have rollers to engage cam grooves in the rotary cam plate c which is adjustably carried by a back plate d adapted to be rotated from a sliding sleeve g through rollers and cam-grooves.
