Abstract

1472035 Alarm systems INSTITUTET FOR INNOVATIONSTEKNIK AB 13 Feb 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 6218/75 Heading G4H An alarm is signalled using a portable primary transmitter which transmits a standby code and an alarm code to a receiver which on receiving the standby code is put into a state to receive the alarm code, responding to the alarm code by actuating an associated secondary transmitter to send an alarm signal to an alarm centre. As disclosed, each of a number of areas has a number of primary transmitters (using the same codes, which are different from those in other areas to prevent false alarms) which can send tone sequences constituting the codes by radio to an area receiver which actuates its associated secondary transmitter to send a tone sequence identifying the area by radio, telephone line or other line to the alarm centre for print out of the area identity. Each primary transmitter is in the form of a wrist watch, pen or cigarette lighter and has two buttons which must be pressed together, twice, to send the standby and alarm codes together, twice, the receiver decoding the first occurrence of the standby code to return an acknowledgement signal and initiate a timed period, e.g. 5-15 seconds. If the (second occurrence of the) alarm code is decoded within this period, the acknowledgement signal is changed and area identity is signalled to the alarm centre as stated. The use of two buttons twice, obviates accidental operation.
