Abstract

1472030 Earth-moving bowl scrapers CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 30 Oct 1975 [24 Feb 1975] 44999/75 Heading E1F In a scraper bowl as shown resilient means 25 operatively interconnect the transversely disposed draft tube 13 and the apron 22 of the scraper bowl for automatically causing the apron to pivot to its open and closed positions upon actuation of the means 28 for lowering and raising the bowl and for resiliently holding the apron in its closed position against the bowl when the bowl is raised. Preferably the link means 25 comprise a pair of spring biassed, telescopic links, these links being located at the ends of the draft tube and being pivotally connected to said ends and to the side arms of the apron. Each such link may comprise a tubular housing 32, a rod 31 telescopically mounted in the housing, axially spaced upper and lower piston members 33, 38 slidably mounted on the rod between upper and lower abutments on the rod, an upper compression spring 36 acting between a closure to the upper end of the housing and the upper piston member 33, and a lower compression spring 37 acting between the upper and lower piston members. U.S.A. Specifications 3170254, 3474547 and 3698109 are referred to.
