Abstract

The comb is fitted at one end of an arm of which the other end is pivoted to allow the arm to swing in a vertical plane at right angles to the comb. The arm is made up of at least two sections of length, hinged together end-to-end to fold the arm in the same vertical plane. An independent hydraulic cylinder is employed to fold the arm at the hinge to operate the comb. The arm end pivot is pref. on a chassis above the water channel. The channel pref. carries another hydraulic cylinder to swing the arm clear of the screen. The chassis is pref. mounted on wheels in tracks extending across the top of the channel. The cleaner is robust, simple and reliable. It provides an effective combing action which does not dump screen rubbish back into the channel.
