Abstract

1472009 Railway vehicle suspension MIDLAND-ROSS CORP 1 April 1975 [1 April 1974] 13335/75 Heading B7L [Also in Division F2] A side bearing in a railway vehicle suspension uses a resilient support assembly which comprises a housing 36 having a base 32 with sidewalls 34 and end walls 36 extending upwardly therefrom; a block of resilient material 50 carried within the housing 30 a cap 60 supported on the block 50 and interlocked therewith by lugs 76 and pockets 74, the cap 60 having means 64a thereon for wedging engagement with the block 50 and adapted during assembly of the block 50 and cap 60 to deform the block 50 whereby the lugs 76 and pockets 74 are interlocked, the block 50 also having a V-shaped central groove 50r extending across its top and the cap 60 having a depending projection 62 received in said groove 50r. Fig. 14 (not shown) illustrates the fullycompressed condition, where a flange 61a of the cap 60 makes contact with the upper face of the sidewalls 34 of the housing 30. The cap 60 also has legs 64 which clear all parts of the housing 30 but partially enclose the block 50 during compression as shown on the right-hand side of Fig. 4. In use, the upper surface of the cap 60 serves as a friction face in conjunction with part 26, Fig. 2. The description is identical to that in the divisional Specification 1,472,010.
