Abstract

1471873 Manhole covers BRICKHOUSE DUDLEY Ltd 6 Aug 1974 [8 Aug 1973] 37539/73 Heading E1G A hinged polygonal manhole cover and frame assembly includes a cover having a planar part 20 with flanged edges 21, 23 and two flange extensions 27 which engage two sockets 15, Fig. 3, to enable the cover to be pivoted relative to the frame. The planar part 20 extends over the two extensions 27 which are thicker than the flanges. The configuration of the sockets 15 is such that the cover, when open, is supported at an angle of between 90‹ and 180‹, and preferably 105‹, to the frame. Keyholes 30, 31 enable the insertion of a key or keys to enable lifting or removal of the cover. Locking means may be provided on the cover.
