Abstract
1471749 Watches EBAUCHES SA 12 Aug 1974 [20 Aug 1973] 35387/74 Heading G3T A mechanism for providing intermittent rotation of a timepiece indicator comprises an oscillatory pallet 25 having two beaks 29, 30 which co-operate both with a cam 10 fast with a continuously rotated driving member 11 and with jumping member 1 which is coaxial with the driving member and coupled thereto by a spring 16. Each beak comprises a locking face 31 or 32 to engage teeth 2 of the jumping member, and a tip 33 or 34 to engage lugs 19 of the cam 10. As shown the member 11 is driven clockwise by its toothing 12 but the member 1 is held by face 31 of entry beak 29 so that the spring 16 becomes tensioned. The force exerted by tooth 2a tends to rotate the pallet clockwise so that tip 34 of exit beak 30 is held against the cam surface. As the driving member and cam rotate, the beak 30 is allowed to move clockwise until tip 33 clears the tooth 2a and the member 1 is turned through one half pitch by the spring 16, bringing tooth 2b against the face 32. The pallet is then rotated anti-clockwise so that tip 33 engages a lug 19 until freed as the cam advances to permit the next jump. The arrangement may alternatively be such that the same beak co-operates simultaneously with the jumping member and the cam. The mechanism may be used in a calendar watch or to drive a hand or a digit disc in a watch or chronograph.
