1471379 Knitting machines VYZKUMNY A VYVOJOVY USTAV ZAVODU VSEOBECNEHO STROJIRENSTVI 2 May 1974 19387/74 Heading D1C An electrical stop-motion circuit for a knitting machine responsive to yarn-breakage comprises a system 2 of parallel-connected branches each with a switch 3 which closes on breakage of an associated yarn connected in series with a circuit element 6 across which a voltage appears when one of the switches 3 closes and, in parallel with the system 2 and element 6, a semiconductor switch 7 which is operated by said voltage and a circuit element 1 which is actuated thereby to stop the machine. The yarn-monitoring branches comprise indicating devices 4 with shunts 5, Element 6 may be a diode, a plurality of diodes in antiparallel connection, a transistor, thyristor or triac. Element 1 may be a relay or contactor. Switch 7 may be a transistor, thyristor or triac, where element 6 is a controlled semiconductor device as shown a bias voltage is applied by a resistor 8.
