Abstract

1470350 Reciprocating pumps PRECISION VALVE CORP 21 June 1974 [26 June 1973] 27725/74 Heading F1A A hand-actuated pump for mounting on a handheld container, e.g. for household products, comprises a piston 30 reciprocable in a cylinder 10 by an actuator button 60 on a stem 20, the piston being slidable on the stem between button boss 63 and stem flange 24 and having a sleeve portion with ports 36, 38, one port 38 registering with an outlet passage 23 driving the downward stroke, and the other port 36 registering with an inlet passage 22 during the upward stroke. A vent port 17 communicates with the atmosphere during actuation of the pump, the communication being closed in the rest position of the pump by interengagement of ribs 66 and 19 on boss 63 and pump cylinder 10. The delivery may be in the form of a spray, a stream or a ribbon. The return spring 40 may be of stainless steel, the remaining pump components being of plastics, e.g.polypropylene for the piston, and polyethylene, nylon, polypropylene or A.B.S. for the cylinder, stem and button.
