Abstract

1469955 Laminates LA LAINIERE DE PICARDIE 10 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 20698/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division B6] A method of applying a resinous solid coating, which is continuous or discontinuous, to a substrate, by dissolving a resinous cross-linkable mixture in a suitable solvent, the mixture including a vulcanizing agent and a plasticizer, the mixture being capable of retaining its fusability properties for a period in excess of one year, applying a coating of this solution to a temporary support at a temperature below that at which cross-linking takes place, allowing the coating to form a film, applying the exposed surface of the film to the substrate and effecting transfer and cross-linking by pressure at a temperature of 0-300‹ C. The cross-linking preferably takes place under neutral conditions of pH. The resinous solid is preferably a blend of 78-80% polyvinyl butyral, 19-21% polyvinyl alcohol and 1-3% polyvinyl acetate. The composition may also include polyurethane or chlorinated polyolefin. The substrate may be a cloth.
