Abstract

1469634 Selective printing H CANDELAND 21 June 1974 [24 March 1973] 14295/73 Heading B6F A printer comprises a single printing member 201-204 for each character to be printed, each printing member comprising a bar which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and which carries a printing bar on one edge of its tip, so that by rotating the bar a square can be printed, and by shifting the paper a further U can be printed to generate a figure 8, each printing action being selective. A single indexable printing member may be provided. The printing member may be driven for impression by mechanical linkages, hydraulics, or electromagnetic or electrostatic clutches. The printer may be linked to a calculator or electronic digital instrumentation.
