Abstract

1469398 Dental treatment ORAL HEALTH PRODUCTS INC 21 May 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8144/72 Heading A5B Compositions for application to the teeth for the purposes of preventing calculus, removing plaque, removing caries and brightening teeth comprise an aqueous solution of N- monochloroglycine buffered to a pH of 8 to 12. The N-monochloroglycine may be prepared in situ from sodium, potassium or calcium hypochlorite and glycine. The buffer system may be glycine, sodium chloride and sodium hydroxide; an alkali metal phosphate e.g. disodium hydrogen, phosphate or a borate e.g. Na2B4O7. The compositions may be applied to the teeth in the form of a pulsating jet stream. The compositions may be in the form of a solid or paste dentifrice or a mouthwash. The composition may be an aqueous solution formed by addition of one or more tablets preferably effervescent to water or an aqueous solution.
