Abstract

1469352 Sodium percarbonate PEROXIDECHEMIE GmbH 6 June 1974 [6 June 1973] 25181/74 Heading C1A Sodium percarbonate is prepared by reacting a H 2 O 2 solution which contains 2À95-10 g./litre at Mg<SP>++</SP> ions in the form of a magnesium salt (other than the silicate), with a Na 2 CO 3 solution or suspension containing 2-8 g./litre of sodium hexametaphosphate or a sodium polyacrylate of a temperature of 10-30‹ C.; crystals of the product are precipitated and separated. The product has a spherulitic crystal habit and has a high resistance to abrasion. Optionally, sodium chloride may be added to the reaction system to increase the yield of the precipitated product, while water glass solution may be added in order to stabilize the product towards loss of active oxygen.
