Abstract

1469131 Detergent bars DOW CHEMICAL CO 12 July 1974 [13 July 1973] 31037/74 Heading C5D A detergent composition in the form of a bar or tablet comprises a solid synthetic anionic detergent, a plasticizer (defined) and from 8 to 20% by weight of a builder which is a polyamino carboxylic acid, nitriloacetic acid, hydroxyethyliminodiacetic acid, or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt thereof, optionally the anionic synthetic detergent being partly replaced by a soap in an amount of up to 30% by weight of the composition. The synthetic anionic detergent may be sodium lauryl sulphate, the sodium salt of coconut oil ester of isothionic acid, sodium N- coconut acid-N-methyl laurate, sodium lauryl sulphoacetate, sodium lauryl sarcosinate or sodium alkyl aryl sulphonate. The bars may contain a sloughing improver such as ethylene bis stearamide or sodium chloride. The plasticizer may be diethylene glycol monostearate.
