Abstract

1468315 Induction heating of molten metals RUSS - ELEKTROOFEN GmbH u CO KG 5 March 1975 [5 March 1974] 9098/75 Heading H5H A crucible section 5 of a channel induction furnace is provided with an induction coil 6 (as shown, in three sections) and supplied with power such that the flow of metal in the crucible section is opposed to the flow emanating from the channel 2 of the channel induction heater. The resultant reduction of surface turbulence reduces oxygen intake into the melt. Continuous casting is achieved via tap hole 9. Further charge material is added via hole 8 in lid 7.
