Abstract

1468093 Coating with metal catalyst NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 18 June 1974 [31 July 1973] 26843/74 Heading C7F An engine exhaust gas treatment catalyst is prepared by coating a refractory carrier of ceramic or metal oxide electrolessly with metal, and thereafter immersing the carrier in a solution containing a compound of a catalytic metal selected from Pt, Ru, Rh or Pd to deposit the latter on the metal by chemical substitution. The ceramic may be cordierite; the carrier may be pre-treated with PdCl 2 and electroless plated with Cu, Ni, Co or Cr at 85-95‹C for 5-30 min. in a solution containing 5-100 g/l of metal compound; the body is then immersed in a solution of 0À1-1 g/l of a compound of Pt, Ru, Rh or Pd.
