Abstract
1467460 Para-phenylene diamine salts SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 9 Dec 1974 [10 Dee 1973] 53210/74 Heading C2C Salts of p-phenylene diamines of the formula wherein R 1 is hydrogen or C 1 to C 6 alkyl, R 2 is C 1 to C 6 alkyl, #-hydroxyethyl, #-alkoxyethyl or #-alkylsulphonylaminoethyl, and the benzene nucleus A may be further substituted by C 1 to C 4 alkyl, C 1 to C 4 alkoxy or halogen, are prepared in the form of crystals having a particle size of more than 0À5 mm. mean diameter by reacting from 1À00 to 1À3 equivalents of an inorganic acid per equivalent of the p-phenylenediamine with said p-phenylene diamine in an alcohol or a mixed solvent of an alcohol and water at 30‹ to 100‹ C., stirring the mixture and recovering the required product.
