1467302 Catalytic unit for I.C. exhaust gas conversion TENNECO Inc 26 Feb 1974 116 March 1973] 8641/74 Heading B1F In a catalyst unit for I.C. exhaust gas conversion, the expansion of metal sleeve 39 and casing 19 is such that the distance between barriers 35 and 37 remains substantially the same as the length of monolithic ceramic refractory honeycomb catalyst 25 during expansion or contraction so that barrier 35 urges catalyst 25 against barrier 37 the coefficient of expansion of sleeve 39 being larger than that of casing 19, which is larger than that of catalyst 25. Ceramic layer 27 resiliently supports catalyst 25.
