Abstract
1455351 Catalyst unit for exhaust gases TENNECO INC 22 Jan 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 02913/74 Heading B1F A catalyst unit for purifying the exhaust gas of an I.C engine comprises a tubular housing enclosing a monolithic catalyst-bearing element which defines longitudinal passages each extending from end face 25 to end face 27, and one or both end faces are of convex shape to compensate for radial variation in gas flow velocity, so that the dwell time of gas in all passages is approximately the same at a design gas flow corresponding to an average engine speed (25- 35 mph).The element is supported in the housing by a resilient sleeve (23).
