Abstract

1466825 Wood joints W MENIG 8 Aug 1975 [26 Aug 1974] 33224/75 Heading F2M [Also in Divisions B5 and E1] A lamellar bonded wooden girder comprises two or more lamellµ 2, 3 bonded together, wherein the surfaces of the lamellµ used for bonding are provided with a groove and cogging profile 4, 5 the grooves and coggings of which are parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction of the girder, and the two side faces of the coggings are inclined in such a way that they have an outward convergence towards the end face of the coggings. The girder is made by milling the groove and cogging profile in the bonding surfaces of lamellµ of preselected width and thickness, applying glue at least to the outer faces of the coggings and pressing the lamellµ together successively with repeated passage through a pressing station having press rolls 9, 10 one of which is provided with a profile complementary that of the lamellµ. The press rolls may be spaced vertically as shown or horizontally (Figs. 8, 9, not shown). The girders made may be of rectangular, T-, I- or box-section and may be straight or arcuate.
