Abstract
1466813 System for generating heat; water tube boilers FOSTER WHEELER ENERGY CORP 24 March 1975 [25 March 1974] 12170/75 Headings F4B and F4A A heat generating system comprises an enclosure 12 lined by a plurality of inter-connected finned tubes 16 to form wall-like structures 14. A partition wall 22, also formed of finned tubes, divides the enclosure into chambers 24 and 26. Air is supplied to the lower part of the enclosure 12 from an inlet 32 through plates 28 and 30 for fluidizing the beds 40 and 44 in the chambers 24 and 26. The bed 40 contains inert material, a sorbent material and relatively fine fuel supplied through a tube 42, and bed 44 similar inert and sorbent material and relatively coarse fuel fed through an inlet 46. Openings 52 and 54 in the partition wall 22 enable particulate material to circulate between the beds, and these openings together with an overflow pipe 48 maintain the fine bed 40 at a higher level than the coarse bed 44. Tubes 50 for circulating a heat exchange medium (e.g. water) may be fitted in one of the chambers. The rate of burning in the fluidized beds may be controlled by air supply regulators 34 and 36.
