Abstract

1466613 Gas turbine engines - guide vane actuation NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 2 Sept 1974 [7 Sept 1973] 38249/74 Heading FIT The invention relates to an inlet guide vane control of a gas turbine engine, the engine comprising a bladed turbine rotor 27 to which gases are directed by variable inlet guide vanes 14, each vane having an angularly movable stem on which is mounted a gear sector 12. The assembly of gear sectors 12 engages with teeth of an angularly rotatable ring gear 10. In a first embodiment the ring gear is also formed with gear teeth 16 which are engaged by a gear sector 18 mounted on the output shaft 20 of a rotary actuator 22 whereby as the actuator is rotated so the guide vanes are adjusted simultaneously. In a second embodiment an arm is secured to the shaft of the actuator, the arm engaging within a slot formed on the ring gear so that as the actuator is rotated so the ring gear is rotated and thus the guide vanes are adjusted.
