Abstract

1466536 Vapourizing oil SELAS CORP OF AMERICA 13 Feb 1975 [1 March 1974] 6216/75 Heading F4T Apparatus for vapourizing a liquid hydrocarbon comprises a combustion chamber 1, a burner 2, a discharge 13 from the chamber means 11, 4, for supplying fuel and air to the burner, means 15 for measuring the temperature of the products of combustion, means 14, for supplying air to mix with the products of combustion, the mixture flowing to a vapourization chamber 16, means 17 to inject liquid hydrocarbon into chamber 16, and means 12 responsive to means 15 to adjust the fuel supply to the burner to maintain the temperature of the mixture above the vapourization temperature of the liquid hydrocarbon. Air is supplied to burner 2 and also to discharge 13 by a blower 3, and the flow to the burner is controlled by a flow controller 7 which is connected to an orifice 6, and a valve 8. Oil is supplied to burner 2 from a tank 9 by a pump 12, and to vapourizing chamber 16 where it is vapourized, by a pump 18. The temperature of the burner discharge and the condition at vapourizing chamber 16 are monitored so as to vary the fuel and air supply, by a thermocouple 15 and a calorimeter 19. This ensures a desired type of combustible mixture at the discharge from chamber 16.
