1466381 Printing apparatus IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Sept 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 47678/73 Addition to 1363852 Heading B6C The transfer printing apparatus of 1,363,852 is modified by the provision of a continuous length of transfer material supplied from reel 10 and taken up by reel 12. Reel 10 may be braked and reel 11 clamped to stop the transfer in the required registered position, and a cursor line may be providedon the upper platen 2 either between roller 9 and recess 3 in the lower platen 1 containing the article to be printed, or be tween recess 3 and roller 11 so that this line can be used to position the transfer. The transfer web preferably has the required image printed thereon, with gaps slightly larger than the distance of O-ring seal 6 from recess 3, which are-not printed. Bringing the platens together, applying a vacuum less than 100 mm. Hg and a temperature of above 100‹ C. effects sublimation printing.
