1466357 Cable terminations BICC Ltd and PYROTENAX Ltd 22 April 1974 [23 April 1974] 17764/74 Heading H2E An end seal on a multiconductor mineral insulated electric cable 2 comprises a metal pot 1, an insulating filling 7 and a closure member of ceramic or vitreous insulating material having its exposed face shaped to provide a surface flash-over distance between the apertures for the conductors greater than (prefer. ably greater than twice) the direct separation. The insulating filling 7 may be an adherent synthetic resin. The surface may have either a slot or a ridge between pairs of conductors in the form of a diameter, "Y"-shape or "X"-shape for two, three and four conductors respectively or in the form of rings around each conductor aperture. The width and the height (or depth) for the ridge (or slot) are preferably at least 3 mm.
