Abstract

1466056 Magnetic nut or bolt lock IZUMI JIKO KK 12 March 1975 [18 March 1974] 10316/75 Heading E2A A wheel-nut lock comprises; a nut or bolt 1 having a cavity 3 in one end, the cavity 3 being formed with a circumferential groove 2; a shell 4 rotatably mounted around the nut or bolt to prevent engagement of a wrench thereon, the shell having an interior lug 5 engaging the end of the nut or bolt; and a locking cylinder A adapted to be positioned in the cavity to lock the shell around the nut, the cylinder A comprising (i) a socket 6, (ii) a plug 7 in contact with the socket, moveable relative thereto and adapted to receive a magnetic key, (iii) at least one opposed pair of openings in the socket and plug, (iv) a magnetic pin 19 across each pair of openings, (v) a shoulder on the socket 6 engaging the shell lug 5, (vi) a latch 16, 17 biassed to extend into the peripheral groove 2, and (vii) an axle 15 extending from the plug 7 into the latch, whereby the magnetic key moves each pin 19 to allow rotation of the plug 7 in the socket 6, thereby rotating the axle to disengage the latch from the groove. The latch is formed in two pieces 16, 17 each formed with a recess 21 receiving a flat axle 15, the pieces being biassed by a spring 23 in further recesses 22. Rotation of the plug in the socket is limited by engagement of a lug 11 of the plug 7 in an arcuate rail 12 of the socket, and is caused by a lug in the key B (Fig. 3 not shown) engaging a recess in a peripheral shoulder 9 of the plug. A pin 13 engages recesses in the plug and socket to prevent relative lateral motion thereof, and an extension 14 of the socket engages a recess in the interior lug 5 of the shell 4.
