Abstract
1465842 Cracking catalyst W R GRACE & CO 13 March 1974 11242/74 Heading C5E [Also in Divisions B1 and C1] Hydrocarbon feeds are cracked using a catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite in a siliceous matrix which has been formed by (a) preparing a zeolite precursor mixture containing amorphous seed particles; (b) heating at from 90‹ C. to reflux to form 15- 100% of the theoretically available zeolite; diluting the reaction mixture with water to a sodium silicate content of 3-7% wt. (as SiO 2 ); (d) gelling with an acid agent, and (e) washing and drying. The zeolite may be zeolite X, Y or A. The composition may further contain clay and may be rare-earth exchanged. In Example 3, a gas oil feed of boiling range 653-931‹ F. is cracked at 920‹ F., a WHSV of 40-60 and a catalyst to oil ratio of 4 to give C 5+ gasolinerich products.
