Abstract

A filling material for pads or supports consists of particles of thermoplastic material. At least one part of these particles is formed by extremely small bubbles the thin shell of which consists of thermoplastic, elastic vinylidene chloride copolymer and/or thermoplastic, elastic vinyl chloride copolymer, and the hollow core of which contains a gas, preferably chlorocarbon and/or hydrocarbon. In order to produce a pad or a support having a filling material of this kind, a procedure can be followed, for example, in which the bubbles are introduced into a pad or support covering through an opening located therein, by means of a carrier substance, for example water. The filling material is used, inter alia, for the production of resilient adaptation and supporting pads between relatively hard objects, for example shoe parts, and parts of the human body. The bubbles can be joined to one another to form a microfoam.
