Abstract
1465396 Extracting proteinaceous material DAI-NIPPON SUGAR MFG CO Ltd 21 Feb 1974 [21 Feb 1973] 8054/74 Heading C3H [Also in Divisions C6 and A2] A method of preparing a protein-containing material comprises treating microorganisms or cereals with at least one of water, at 60-150‹ C. an acid, an alkali and an organic polar solvent to obtain an insoluble residue, mechanically rupturing the membrane of cells contained in the residue in the presence of a cell membranelytic enzyme and or a proteolytic enzyme thereby releasing intracellular substances. The cereal may be beans or defatted cakes thereof, maize, wheat, oat or barley and the microorganism may be a yeast, e.g. Candida utilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Saccharomyces fragilis, Saccharomyces carlsbergensis, Candida tropicalis, Candida lipolitica, and Rhodotorula glutinis, a bacterium, e.g. Bacillus subtilis or a Corynebacterium sp. or an alga, e.g. Arthrospira, Spirulina, Chlorella vulgaris or Scenedesmus sp. The proteolytic enzyme used may be a proteinase, e.g. papain, bioplase, panprosin or bromelin.
