Abstract

1463341 Milking apparatus A TOLLE and H ZEIDLER 14 Feb 1974 [17 Feb 1973] 6794/74 Heading AIM In milking apparatus a vacuum pump 1 provides a constant vacuum via a claw 5 to relatively rigid single chamber teat cups 7, which loosely surround teats 13, such that air can be drawn continuously through inlets 11 and thence between the teat cup and the teat. the vacuum causing milk to flow and the air flow preventing congestion and blood swelling of the teat. The teats are gripped at their upper portions by an elastic lip 12, which may incorporate the air inlet 11. A liner may rest against a head 10 of the teat cup, air under pressure may be supplied to the inlet 11. The air inlet 11 in the side wall or the elastic lip may be interchanegeable and comprise a single nozzle (as shown) or several nozzles and the side wall 8 of the teat cup may be grooved to facilitate the drawing through of the air.
