Abstract

1462763 Packaging articles between webs of plastics material P E CHRISTIANSEN 1 March 1974 [13 Feb 1973] 7095/73 Heading B8C In the packaging of articles between two sheets of plastics material in which a movable carrier surface is provided which moves stepwise under a welding device and to which a lower plastics sheet, articles to be packaged and an upper plastics sheet are continuously supplied, the welding device is such as to produce a plurality of transverse welding lines thereby packaging two or more articles separately for each welding operation and movement of the carrier. Optionally welding may be accompanied simultaneously with cutting of the plastics sheets to separate the individually packed articles. As shown the plastics sheets are supplied from rolls 10 and 22, and the movable carrier is formed by a continuous conveyer belt 6 having spaced transverse ribs 8 between which articles to be packaged are placed, and the welding device 23 includes longitudinal welding tools 36 and transverse welding tools 34 whose spacing is adjustable; articles of various sizes being packageable by adjustment of the spacing between the transverse welding tools and selection of a suitable conveyer belt 6.
