Abstract
1462666 Enamelling pipes VSESOJU N I INST PO STROITELSTVU MAGISTRAI TRUBOPROVO 7 Dec 1974 53002/74 Heading C1M Apparatus for the continuous enamelling of pipes 9 comprises two rotors 6, 7 mounted on vertical axes side by side each having grips 8 for holding the pipes 9 in a vertical position, the rotor 6 being a receiving and discharging rotor and rotor 7 to move the pipes 9 past working stations a, b, c, d, the two rotors 6, 7 being interconnected by a transfer mechanism 30 for transferring pipes 9 from one rotor to the other: mechanism for applying enamel slip is provided at the stations a and b (e.g. sprays or bath) with drying and baking means at stations c and d. As shown, pipes 9, each provided with a removable head 22 and projection 23 for engagement with the grips 8, are supplied to rotor 6 by a conveyer 13 incorporating a turn-over device 14 to lift the pipes 9 from a horizontal to a vertical position. Device 14 comprises a cradle 16 with side grips 17 and a support 18 for the lower end of the pipe; the cradle 16 being turned about pivot 15 by a power cylinder 19 after a pusher device has moved the pipe 9 up against the support 18. Swivelling grips 20 and 21 on conveyer 13 move the pipe 9 respectively on to and off the cradle 16. The transfer mechanism 30 comprises upper and lower carriages 31, 34 moved simultaneously by cylinders 36, the carriage 31 having a grip 32 for the pipes and carriage 34 moved along guides 33 and having a support 35 for the lower end of the pipe. In order for the pipes 9 to be movable downwardly into a slip bath or between sprayers at stations a or b, or between the heaters at stations c and d, the grips 8 on the rotor 7 are mounted on carriages 25 movable along vertical guides 26 on the rotor 7 and operated by a screw 27, a variable speed drive 28 and a disengaging clutch 29. At stations c and d, electric induction heaters 24 respectively dry and bake the enamel slip or the enamel coating. Each pipe 9 travels round the rotors 6 and 7 three times for drying, baking and cooling while on rotor 6 between the slip and the two enamel coats.
