Abstract

1462633 Granulating urea FISONS Ltd 15 May 1974 [10 April 1973] 17111/73 Heading B5A Urea is granulated from a melt containing less than 0À5% by weight of water by tumbling a bed of urea particles in a device rotating about an axis inclined at less than 20 degrees to the horizontal whereby the particles do not fall freely as a curtain within the device, spraying molten urea on to the bed and allowing the particles to grow in size by agglomeration. The device may comprise a rotating drum granulator and the agglomerated particles may be cooled in a gas stream; the fine particles in the stream may be returned to the device or to the melt preparation stage.
