1462350 2-Plperazino-thlazole derivative WANDER Ltd 29 Jan 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 29690/76 Divided out of 1461874 Heading C2C The novel compound, 2-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-4-tert-butyl-thiazole (I), and its acid addition salts are prepared by (a) reacting a reactive ester of (CH 3 ) 3 C.CO.CH 2 OH (II) with 4 - methyl - 1 - piperazinyl - thiocarboxamide, or (b) reacting the thiocyanic acid ester of (II) with 1-methylpiperazine, or (c) reacting a reactive ester of (II) with 1-methylpiperazine thiocyanate, or (d) methylating 2-(1-piperazinyl)-4-tert.-butyl-thiazole. Pharmaceutical compositions having vigilanceincreasing, anorexigenic and serotonin-antagonistic activity, for oral administration comprise compound (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, together with a pharmaceutical carrier.
