Abstract

1461950 Sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 30 Dec 1974 [29 Dec 1973] 55991/74 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener comprises a pair of carrier tapes 10 two filter cords 13a, and two series of discrete fastener elements 15, each of the tapes having a flat face 11 at one side and a waled face at the opposite side the waled face including a multiplicity of longitudinally extending alternate wales and grooves 12a, 12b, each filter cord 13a extending along one longitudinal edge of a respective one of the tapes and being wrapped around by the fabric of the respective tape 10 with the peripheral surface of said cord intimately engaged with said waled face of the respective tape and forming a bulge at said edge, and each series of fastener elements 15 being mounted on a respective one of said tapes and extending along the bulged tape edge and exerting a clamping action upon the bulged tape edge, the wales being urged radially towards the cord and biting into the cord, and part of the material of the cord being urged towards, and at least partly filling, the grooves 12b. As shown, the wales 12a' and the grooves 12b' are interengaged due to the clamping action of the legs 15b, 15c of the elements 15.
