Abstract

1461833 Collecting bales T H D MEIJER 18 April 1974 [20 April 1973] 16908/74 Heading B5F A device for collecting bales from a baling press and arranging them in groups comprises compartments defined by a central partition 6<SP>1</SP>, side partition 6 and side walls 5, a diverter 9 at the end of each side partition 6 and an auxiliary diverter at the end of the central partition. The diverters 9 have extensions 10 whereas the auxiliary diverter has a pair of extensions 10<SP>1</SP>. The auxiliary diverter is spring-biased against stops 11 in its two limit positions. In use a first bale is guided into a compartment by the diverters 9, 9<SP>1</SP> and pivots the auxiliary diverter to its limit position. The diverters 9 are only held in their second limit position by the last bale in the compartment. Alternatively the diverters may have two spring-biased limit positions. When the device is full of a group of bales a tail gate 4 is opened by the eighth bale engaging a linkage (23), (24), Fig. 8b (not shown), The auxiliary diverter 9<SP>1</SP> may have a wing plate 17, Fig. 7, to prevent it piercing a prematurely fed bale. Alternatively a roller could be provided on the end of the wing plate. The bales are guided to the device by hose covered coil springs 15.
