Abstract

The trailer is attached to the tractor coupling by a drawbar that is pivotable with respect to the trailer frame. Through this, the trailer can be towed behind, and laterally spaced displaced from, the tractor, which enables loading of bales on either side of the tractor. Raising and lowering of the trailer by means of vertically adjustable rear trailer wheels, and the tractor lift arms, enables the trailer to be loaded. <IMAGE>

Description

THE SI-SCOOP BALE TRAILER This invention relates to the Si-Scoop bale trailer designed for the transport of round bales in farming practices.
In farming practices today round bales are extremely common and their uses widespread. To date, movement of these bales has involved the use of a tractor, trailer and loader which is a labour and machinery intensive operation, or the use of a fully mounted bale carrier which spikes the bales and can only carry a maximum of four bales.
Therefore it appears that there i a place in the market for a self loading trailer capable of carrying eight to ten bales depending on its size.
The invention described herein enables self loading to occur by use of a double pivoted swinging drawbar at the front of the trailer and hydraulic wheels at the rear of the trailer, enabling the trailer to be raised or lowered. These facilities together with the fact that the trailer is mounted to the tractors lift arms and not the pickup hitch, enable the operator to load, transport and unload without the use of further machinery.
An explanation of the operation of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanyina drawings in which; Fig. 1 shows the overall concept of the trailer; Fig. 2 shows the rear view of the trailer in the loading position; Fig. 3 shows the rear view of the trailer in the transport position Fig. 4 shows the aerial view when the right side of the trailer is loaded; Fig. 5 shows the aerial view when the left side of the trailer is loaded.
The Si-Scoop trailer cont.
The trailer consists in length of three chassis members as illustrated in Fig. 1 by D,E and F, which results in two channels G and H in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 respectively. Each channel is capable of carrying 4/5 round bales, giving a total capacity of 8/10 The front of the trailer mounts onto the hydraulic lift arms of the tractor enabling the front of the trailer to be raised or lowered. The rear of the trailer is raised and lowered by the use of hydraulic wheels situated at the rear of the trailer (see Fig. 1). The trailer may also be moved out to the side of the tractor as shown in Fig. 4 and t, by use of the swinging drawbar by moving it to position A or 8 as shown in Fiq. 1.
To Load: 1. Move the trailer to one side using the hydraulics as in Fig. 4 and 5.
2. Lower rear of trailer by raising rear wheels using hydraulics.
3. Lower front of trailer using tractor lift arms.
4. Drive past bale enabling it to enter G or H as shown in Fig. 4 and 5 5. Once the bale is in the trailer, raise the trailer usinq the tractor lift arms and the hydraulic rear wheels. The trailer is then centered behind the tractor, and the operator moves on to the next bale.
To Unload: 1. Release the stopper bar marked C in Fig. 1.
2. Lower the trailer front and rear.
3. Drive foreward.
