Abstract

1461764 Cell electrode NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 13 Feb 1974 [17 Nov 1972] 53098/72 Heading H1B [Also in Division C1] An electrode for an electrochemical cell has the surface at least composed of a mixed cobaltnickel oxide in the spinel phase, either impregnated into a carbon body, or mixed with about half its weight of a hydrophobic binder (such as PTFE) to give an interlocking continuous phase providing for gas transport throughout at least the surface regions. The mixed oxide is prepared in the substantial absence of water and/or hydroxyl ions (see Division C1).
