Abstract

1461431 Lamps ESQUIRE Inc 19 June 1974 [15 Feb 1974] 27162/74 Heading F4R A reflector for use with a light source and adapted to maximize the amount of light from the source which emerges from the opening in the reflector after only a single or primary reflection comprises a plurality of curved side reflectors 70a-70f, the curved boundary lines 81, 83 of which are defined by the loci of points beyond which light from the source will not emerge after only a primary reflection, and a plurality of curved corner reflectors 72a-72f disposed within the curved boundary lines and adapted to cause at least some of the light falling thereon to emerge from the reflector after only a primary reflection. The opening in the reflector is defined by the longer straight sides of the curved side reflectors, which meet the boundary lines 81, 83 at a plurality of corners. The shorter straight sides meet the opposite ends of the boundary lines on a polygonal base 74 formed by a planar reflector.
