Abstract

1460897 Bagging machines EUROPACK ENG CO Ltd 10 July 1974 [11 April 1973 27 April 1973] 17396/73 and 20174/73 Heading B8C In a bagging machine, a number of three-sided open-topped trays 10 are carried continuously or intermittently on an endless chain conveyer 12, each tray being mounted on brackets 11 pivoting on carriers 13. Each bracket and tray is kept in the attitude shown in Fig. 1, throughout the cycle by means of arms 14 with rollers 15 running in track 16. Each tray is loaded with an article, articles, or granular material and passes a sensor 25 controlling a bag-opening air blast from nozzle 26 at table 23 bearing a stack 24 of bags. Jaws 27 enter and hold open the bag 24a until the charged tray 10 enters the bag open side first and then carries the bag round to a separating station. Head 17a of a plunger 17 slidable between brackets 11 then engages stop 18 so that pusher blade 17b expels the tray contents into the bag, and pushes the filled bag on to conveyer 21 for transport to bag closure means such as sealing jaws. A stop 32 subsequently withdraws plunger 17 to the initial position. Another form of the machine comprises a mechanism 40 with a downward tilted table 45 on which bags 46 are stacked, a feed fork 48 with jaws 49 to enter the opened bag transferring each bag to enclose a loaded tray 10. The tray 10 is carried on a frame 41 which is tiltable to allow the loaded bag to fall downwards from the tray on to a conveyer. The bags may be closed as before or by twist wire, wire clip, or plastics clip.
