Abstract

1460896 Metal buttons WELSH PRODUCTS Ltd 2 April 1974 [3 April 1973] 15953/ 73 Heading A3H A metal button comprises a head member 1 and a shank member 2 having an annular portion 3 integrally extending from a base plate 4 welded to member 1. Assembly of members 1 and 2 is achieved by applying to a surface of member 1 the surface of the plate 4 which is opposite to the surface having portion 3, whereby contact is achieved through a projection 5 located either on plate 4 or member 1, and uniting the plate 4 and the member 1 by capacity discharge welding. The shank member 2 is formed by stamping out a flat element, and bending two end sections away from the intermediate lease plate 4 to form the annular portion 3. The head member 1 may not be a plate as shown and may be made of brass, mild steel or cupro-nickel.
