Abstract
1460803 Cable stripper MARCONI CO Ltd 2 Dec 1974 [5 March 1974] 9736/74 Heading H2C A cable stripping arrangement comprises a low-voltage (about 2 volts) current source, means for activating said source, and a hand holdable device remote from said source but electrically connected thereto having heatable means engageable with the covering of a cable and switch means to cause current to flow from the source to heat the heatable means. The current source (not shown) comprises circuitry to provide a linear change in the heat at the blades 3,4 on the rotation of a potentiometer in said circuitry activated by the switch means 13 on the device via a relay (not shown) and two outputs from a step-down output transformer (not shown). The hand holdable device has a blade of high resistance 3 electrically connected via conductors 5, 6, mounted in jaw 1, to one output of the source and a similar blade 4 electrically connected via conductors 7, 8, mounted in jaw 2 to the second output. A threaded screw 9 limits the amount by which the jaws may be closed and an adjustable stop 10 controls the stripping length of the cable.
