1460703 Glycidyl esters of organic carboxylic acids ROHM GmbH 29 Sept 1975 [2 Oct 1974] 39824/75 Heading C2C A process for preparing glycidyl esters of organic carboxylic acids comprises reacting the acid with an alkali metal carbonate in the presence of epichlorohydrin to form an alkali metal salt of said acid with no substantial formation of the glycidyl ester, removing any water formed, and reacting the alkali metal salt with epichlorohydrin in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. a quaternary ammonium salt. An example describes the preparation of glycidyl methacrylate.
