Abstract

146,062. Joiris, J. L. Feb. 25, 1920. Single-trigger mechanism.-Consists in forming one sear integral with the trigger and in providing on it a movable projection adapted, when the first hammer has fallen, to move into position to engage the second sear. A safety device may be provided to lock the second sear when the trigger is pulled to fire the first barrel. In the construction shown, the two sears 6, 7 are pivoted on the pin 11. The sear 6 is integral with the trigger 27 and carries a projection 9 adapted to be raised against the pressure of a spring 10, when the first hammer 1 is cocked, by a nose 8 on the hammer. The second sear 7 is provided with an abutment 12. When the projection 9 is in the raised position and the trigger is pulled, the projection 9 rides over the top of the abutment 12, but when the first hammer has fallen, the projection 9 is lowered by its spring so that the next pull of the trigger actuates the second sear. The safety device comprises a lever 15, Fig. 6, having a finger 22 adapted to engage the second sear when, towards the end of the first pull of the trigger, a rib 19 on the safety device enters a recess 30 on the top of the first sear 6.
